q - regular bipartite graphs

An explicit construction of a family of binary LDPC codes called LU(3, q), where q is a power of a prime, was recently given. A conjecture was made for the dimensions of these codes when q is odd. The conjecture is proved in this note. The proof involves the geometry of a 4-dimensional symplectic vector space and the action of the symplectic group and its subgroups.

Largest planar matching in random bipartite graphs

Given a distribution G over labeled bipartite (multi) graphs, G = (W; M; E) where jWj = jMj = n, let L(n) denote the size of the largest planar matching of G (here W and M are posets drawn on the plane as two ordered rows of nodes, an upper and a lower one, and a (w; m) edge is drawn as a straight line between w and m). The main focus of this work is to understand the asymptotic (in n) behavior...

Regular bipartite graphs are antimagic

A labeling of a graph G is a bijection from E(G) to the set {1, 2, . . . , |E(G)|}. A labeling is antimagic if for any distinct vertices u and v, the sum of the labels on edges incident to u is different from the sum of the labels on edges incident to v. We say a graph is antimagic if it has an antimagic labeling. In 1990, Ringel conjectured that every connected graph other than K2 is antimagic...

Neighbourly Regular Strength of Bipartite Graphs

A graph is said to be a neighbourly irregular graph (or simply an NI graph) if every pair of its adjacent vertices have distinct degrees. Let G be a simple graph of order n. Let NI(G) denote the set of all NI graphs in which G is an induced subgraph. The neighbourly regular strength of G is denoted by NRS(G) and is defined as the minimum positive integer k for which there is an NI graph in NI(G...
